PARLIAMENT MUST BE ALLOWED TO VOTE ON FUTURE NUCLEAR DETERRENT - Harvey12.01.00am GMT Wed 5th Nov 2008
Commenting on today's NAO report on the future of the UK's nuclear deterrent, Liberal Democrat Shadow Defence Secretary, Nick Harvey said: "At a time when the defence budget is critically overstretched, we need assurances from the Government that the country will not be saddled with elastic costs for the future nuclear deterrent. "So far we have seen too much in the way of smoke and mirrors from the Government on this issue of national importance. "Parliament must be given a chance to vote when the time comes for any critical decisions."
